A life shaped by photography.
About Andy Rasheed
I have been obsessed with photography for over thirty years. My love affair began and continues through my photographic observations of the natural world. In 1993, unable to quell the momentum building within me, I set off to be trained in commercial photography. In January of 1997, with a modest kit and vast enthusiasm, I started eyefood photography.
Twenty-nine years, two children, one grand child, sixteen camera bodies, many lenses, a gazillion rolls of film, thousands upon thousands of digital files, a dozen or more group exhibitions, six solo exhibitions, multiple art commissions, more flights than I can remember, thousands of shoots, meeting a fantastic array of people, photographing and then eating utterly spectacular food, documentation of festivals, theatre and dance performances, seeing huge areas of remote, country Australia and New Zealand whilst being privy to some incredible situations and experiences, and here I am.
Still enamoured.
At a conservative estimate, I have spent forty-five thousand hours at the helm of a freelance commercial photography business. Whilst I am still learning, I feel I now have a refined sense of the practical applications of an image, and how to make appropriate photos across a broad range of areas.
I have come to believe that, regardless of the situation I find myself in, there is always a strong photograph to capture; I just have to find it.
I have little interest in what’s trending because fashions last for a millisecond. Instead, I see greater worth in creating imagery that could look contemporary in ten years’ time but may have been shot at the turn of the century. These photographs are the equivalent of a classic business suit; they are an investment that pays off over time.
In addition to my commercial practice, I have created a significant stock library of artworks. Check out my Fine Art Print Store
Be sure to contact me if you are thinking about photography for your business or endeavour, or to find out more about my library of photographic artwork.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my work.
Cheers, Andy
